About

I'm an illustrator, math teacher and professional dad.  My family is currently living in Washington state, but I began entertaining my kids with silly pancakes during a nine-month adventure in Saipan.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • What equipment do you use?
12-oz wide-mouth squeeze bottles.  I got mine here, but would prefer if they had caps.
    Extra-wide spatula, from Ikea
    12.75-inch nonstick pan from Scanpan
Infrared thermometer (I usually cook ~460º)

  • What recipe do you use?
I've done a lot of experimenting with recipes, and ended up composting some of the results (too much garbanzo bean flour?).  If the kids feel like doing some measuring, I'll mix up some batter with the recipe below, though most days I take the easy road and go with an off-the-shelf mix.  I put a little cocoa powder in one of the squeeze bottles.

    3 c flour
    2 tbsp baking powder
    2 tsp salt
    2 tbsp sugar
    1/2 c applesauce
3 tbsp melted butter or substitute
    2 3/4 c soymilk
